USD #225 Board of Education Meeting
November 8, 2021, 7:00 P.M.
Call to order: T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and McDowell led a prayer.
Members present: Fred Boyd, Tom Huelskamp, Cathy Heinz, Kim Copenhaver, Jared Weber, and T.J. Milford were present. Others present were Cherie Nicholson, Superintendent, Erica Littlewood, Board Clerk, and Corri McDowell, Principal.
Ed Rarden was not present.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Cord Moss, Bryan Branstine, Kimberly McLachlan, Charlie Littlewood, Emily Dizmang, and Debbie Wise
Approve Consent Agenda: Copenhaver moved, seconded by Huelskamp to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried 6-0.

DISCUSSION
Reschedule March 2022 Board Meeting – Milford moved, seconded by Weber to move the March 2022 BOE meeting to Monday, March 21, 2021. Motion carried 6-0.
ESSER III Prioritization – Discussion only. No motion made.
Out of District Liability – Heinz moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept the trap shooting team to use the Fowler High School name only as presented for liability purposes. By August 1, 2022, all trap shooting team’s financials will become the property of the trap shooting director and/or board. Trap shooting team participants will sign release of liability waivers for the 2021-2022 school year. Motion carried 5-0 (Copenhaver abstained)
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Huelskamp moved, seconded by Weber to go into executive session for 15 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel under KOMA, board and superintendent. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 6-0. 8:01 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Boyd to go back into executive session for 5 minutes. Motion carried 6-0. 8:17 p.m.
PERSONNEL
Junior High Scholars’ Bowl Sponsor – Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to accept Quenton Rucker as the JH Scholars’ Bowl sponsor for the 2021-2022 season. Motion carried 6-0.
Head High School Basketball Coach – Milford moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Dale Coverdale as the head coach for girls and boys high school basketball for the 2021-2022 season.
- If any one team does not make enough to continue or play a scheduled game, the salary will be prorated.
- If there are not enough players to make a team, the salary will be adjusted to the salary of one head coach.
Assistant High School Basketball Coach – Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to open up the position of girls/boys’ assistant basketball coach. Position will be posted immediately and will close on 11/12/21 at 9:00am. Motion carried 6-0.
Adjournment – Weber moved, seconded by Copenhaver to adjourn meeting. Motion carried 6-0 8:32 p.m.
