Regular Board Of Education Meeting

Monday, January 11, 2016     7:00 p.m.

 

 

 

Call to order:  Courtney Wilson, president, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Steve Lundeen led a prayer.

 

Members present:   Mark Bergkamp, Richie Dewell (arrived 8:50), Erica Littlewood (arrived 8:40), Steve Lundeen, Barbara Whitney and Courtney Wilson were present.  Tim Milford was absent. Others present were Tom Dolenz, Superintendent/PK-12 Principal and Brenda Wenta, Clerk.

 

Recognition of Visitors/Communication:  Corri McDowell, Erica Foster, Debbie Wise, Dave Weber. 

 

Approve Agenda: Lundeen moved, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the printed agenda with the addition of classified employee paid leave.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Approve Minutes: Bergkamp moved, seconded by Whitney to approve the regular meeting minutes of December 18, 2015.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Accounts Payable: Whitney moved, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the accounts payable as presented.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Reports:

            Special Education

            Economic Development

            Superintendent/Principal/Activities Director

 

Audit Report:

            Nicole May presented the audit report for fiscal year ending June 30, 2015.  Whitney moved, Bergkamp seconded to accept the audit report.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Expansion cracks:  Dave Weber reported on the expansion cracks. 

 

Audit/budget contracts:

            Lundeen moved, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the audit and budget contracts with Kennedy McKee & Company for fiscal years 2016, 2017, and 2018.  Motion carried 4-0

 

Building Use policy:

            Whitney moved, Bergkamp seconded to increase the refundable janitorial deposit to $50.00 and state an additional fee may be assessed if services are required beyond what is covered by deposit.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Executive Session:  Bergkamp moved, Whitney seconded to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 8:38 p.m. Motion carried 4-0.  Board Members, Mr. Dolenz were present.  Time:  8:23

 

A motion was made and seconded to extend the above executive session by 10 minutes to 8:49.  Motion carried 4-0.  Time: 8:39

               Erica Littlewood arrives at 8:40

A motion was made and seconded to extend the above executive session by 10 minutes to 9:00.  Motion carried 5-0.  Time: 8:50

               Richie Dewell arrives at 8:55

 

Personnel: 

            A motion was made by Whitney, seconded Littlewood to approve Terrie Zortman as high school library aide.  Motion carried 6-0.

            A motion was made by Lundeen, seconded by Bergkamp to approve classified vacation leave to include 9 and 10 month employees to receive one day per month for each month of the year employed.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Negotiations:

 

Dewell moved, Bergkamp seconded to enter into executive session to discuss negotiations in order to protect the public interest in negotiating a fair and equitable contract and that the board return to open session in the board room at 9:21 p.m.  Motion carried 6-0.  Board members, Mr. Dolenz were present.  Time:  9:16 pm.

 

Adjournment:  A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 6-0.  Time:  9:22 p.m.
