USD #225 Board of Education Meeting
February 12, 2018, 7 p.m.
Call to order: Barb Whitney, President, called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Whitney led in prayer.
Members present: Barb Whitney, Dave Snook, Richie Dewell, Jamie Boese, Fred Boyd, Seth Hageman and Tom Huelskamp were present. Others present were Corri McDowell, Principal, Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Paula Kay Watson, Board Clerk.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Visitors listed on sign-in sheets.
Amend Agenda: Snook moved and Hageman seconded to Amend the Agenda.
Approve Amended Consent Agenda: Boese moved, seconded by Snook to approve the Amended Consent Agenda. Motion carried 7-0.
Construction Presentation: Oscar Teran gave a presentation his team did for Teacher Housing.
Teacher Contracts: Huelskamp moved and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session for 10 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 7:22 p.m. Huelskamp moved and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session for 15 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 7:32 p.m. Huelskamp moved and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session for 25 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 7:47 p.m.
TJ Milford joined the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
Meeting opened back up at 8:15 p.m.
Boese moved and Snook seconded to approve teacher contracts as presented with corrections. Motion carried 7-0.
Teacher Signing Bonus: Hageman moved, seconded by Huelskamp to approve offer a $500 signing bonus to teachers who sign their contract by March 1, 2018. Motion carried 7-0.
Snook moved to approve Cheyenne Federau as the Ag Science teacher for 2018-2019 school year. Huelskamp seconded. Boese moved, seconded by Snook to approve the Amended Consent Agenda. Motion carried 7-0.
Increase Base Salary: Boese moved, seconded by Boyd to increase the base salary by $500. Motion carried 7-0.
Executive Session: Hageman moved and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session for 10 minutes and include Cecilia Hodde. Motion carried 7-0. 8:20 p.m. Huelskamp moved and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session for 15 minutes and include Cecilia Hodde. Motion carried 7-0. 8:30 p.m.
REPORTS Principal: Mrs. McDowell gave her report.
Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, said there meeting is tomorrow.
Special Education, Snook nominated Jamie Boese as Special Education Representative. Boyd seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Superintendent, Mr. Bollinger gave his report.
League Discussion: Consensus of the Board to continue with the SPIAA League.
Carpet: Still getting bids.
Boiler: Tabled until next month with more bids.
Executive Session: Hageman moved and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session for 15 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 9:19 p.m. Snook moved and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session for 15 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 9:34 p.m. Snook moved and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session for 5 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 9:49 p.m.
Assistant Track: Hageman moved, seconded by Huelskamp to offer Alex Granados the High School Assistant Trach Coach position. Motion carried 7-0
Adjournment: A motion was made by Snook, seconded by Boyd to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 7-0. Time: 9:56 p.m.
