USD #225 Board of Education Meeting

October 8th, 2018, 7 p.m.

 

 

Call to order:  Barb Whitney, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Whitney led in prayer.

Members present:  Barb Whitney, Dave Snook, Jamie Boese, Fred Boyd, and Tom Huelskamp were present. Others present were Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Corri McDowell, Principal and Erica Rarden, Board Clerk. Not present: Richie Dewell.

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Kim McLachlan, Emily Dizmang, Dana Strong, Phil Marrs, Jennifer Bartlett, Debbie Wise, Rebecca Heinz, Donna Norman, and Craig Maynard.

Approve Consent Agenda: Snook moved, seconded by Huelskamp to approve the Consent Agenda.  Motion carried 5-0.       

REPORTS        Principal:  Mrs. McDowell gave her report.

                        Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, gave her report.

                        Special Education, Jamie Boese, representative, gave her report

                        Superintendent, Mr. Bollinger gave his report.

Appointment of vacant board seat: Discussion held; the board will schedule a meeting to conduct interviews with candidates. Meeting date to be determined.

Cross country uniforms: Discussion held regarding the district’s junior high and high school cross country uniforms.

SPIAA League: A discussion was held regarding the district’s league options.

Football field speakers: One bid received to replace the sound system on the football field: $12,500. Not pursuing replacement at this time.

Personnel: Snook moved and seconded by Boese to approve the hiring of Jonah Bollinger for the position of Junior High Girls Basketball Coach. Motion carried 5-0.

Snook moved, seconded by Huelskamp to approve the hiring of Jennifer Bartlett for the position of Assistant Junior High Girls/Boys Basketball Coach. Motion carried 5-0.

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Boyd, seconded by Huelskamp to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 5-0.  Time: 8:17 p.m.
