USD #225 Board of Education Special Meeting
August 24, 2020, 9:00 A.M.
Call to order: T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
Members present: Fred Boyd, Ed Rarden, Cathy Heinz, Tom Huelskamp, and T.J. Milford were present. Others present were Cherie Nicholson, Superintendent, and Erica Rarden, Board Clerk. Kimberly Copenhaver and Jared Weber were not present.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: None
DISCUSSION
2020-2021 District Budget: Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to approve the 2020-2021 District Budget as presented. Motion carried: 5-0.
PERSONNEL
Resignation: Heinz moved, seconded by Boyd to accept the resignation of Valerie Crone effective August 17, 2020. Motion carried 5-0.
Supplementals: Fall supplemental contracts were approved, dependent on the status of fall supplementals (clubs, sports, activities, etc.) due to COVID-19/executive mandates. Contracts will be flexible; contracts can be changed due status of situations (applies to all the following). Winter and spring sports/activities will be discussed at a later date.
Huelskamp moved, seconded by Boyd to accept the recommendation to hire Quenton Rucker as the High School Scholars Bowl sponsor. Motion carried 5-0.
Rarden moved, seconded by Heinz to accept the recommendation to hire Jennifer Faurot as the High School Cheer Coach. Motion carried 5-0.
High School Administrative Assistant: Milford moved, seconded by Huelskamp to give authorization to Cherie Nicholson to extend an offer to an applicant for the high school administrative assistant position before the September board meeting. Motion carried 5-0. (Board will be updated on this position at the September board meeting.)
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Rarden moved, seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session for 00 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel under KOMA, board and superintendent. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 5-0. 9:05 a.m.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Heinz, seconded by Huelskmaop to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. Time: 9:20 a.m.
