USD #225 Board of Education Meeting
August 12, 2019, 7 p.m.
Call to order: Barb Whitney, President, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Whitney led in prayer.
Members present: Barb Whitney, Fred Boyd, Ed Rarden, Tom Huelskamp, Richie Dewell, and Jamie Boese were present. Others present were Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Corri McDowell, Principal, and Erica Rarden, Board Clerk.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Emily Dizmang, Kim McLachlan, Debbie Wise, Cathy Heinz, Donna Norman, David Adams, Boyd Peterson II, Dave Weber, Dennis McDowell, and Phil Marrs.
Recess: Dewell moved, seconded by Huelskamp to go into recess. Motion carried 6-0 Recess began at 7:00 p.m., resumed at 7:05 p.m.
Approve Consent Agenda: Boese moved, seconded by Boyd to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried 6-0.
REPORTS Principal: Mrs. McDowell gave her report.
Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, no report given.
Special Education, Jamie Boese, representative, no report given.
Superintendent, Mr. Bollinger gave his report.
Dress Code: Boese moved, seconded by Rarden to change the existing dress code policy to allow baseball and stocking caps to worn in the building. Motion failed 3-3.
Reissue vote for May 2019’s resignations and new hires:
Boese moved, seconded by Dewell to accept the resignations of Lisa Tatro, Craig Maynard, Rebecca Heinz, and Erica Foster. Motion carried: 6-0
Boese moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept the following new hires: Grace Powell and Jennifer Faurot. Motion carried: 6-0
Supplemental contracts:
Rarden moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Cord Moss as assistant football coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Boyd moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Tailon Bird as Head HS boys basketball coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Rarden moved, seconded by Boese to accept Taylor Bollinger as cross country coach (JH included). Motion carried 4-2 (Huelskamp, Boyd).
Boese moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Valerie Crone as HS Cheer coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Rarden moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Corri McDowell as JH volleyball coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Boese moved, no second to accept Taylor Bollinger as JH boys basketball coach. No vote.
Dewell moved, seconded by Boyd to accept Erica Rarden as JH Cheer coach. Motion carried 5-0. (Rarden excluded)
Boese moved, seconded by Rarden to accept Taylor Bollinger as activities director. Motion carried 4-2 (Huelskamp, Boyd).
Boese moved, seconded by Dewell to accept Megan Adams as debate/forensics sponsor. Motion carried 6-0.
Dewell moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Erica Rarden as HS scholars’ bowl sponsor. Motion carried 5-0 (Rarden excluded).
Boyd moved, seconded by Dewell to accept Erica Rarden as JH scholars’ bowl sponsor. Motion carried 5-0 (Rarden excluded).
Boese moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Corru McDowell as NHS sponsor. Motion carried 6-0.
Rarden moved, seconded by Boyd to accept Megan Adams as HS Stuco sponsor. Motion carried 6-0.
Boese moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Ashley Boe as pep band sponsor. Motion carried 6-0.
Boyd moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Valerie Crone as Jr. class sponsor. Motion carried 6-0.
Rarden moved, seconded by Huelskamp to accept Kimberly McLachlan as new teacher mentor. Motion carried 6-0.

Adjournment: A motion was made by Dewell, seconded by Huelskamp to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 6-0. Time: 8:06 p.m.
