USD #225 Board of Education Meeting

March 5, 2018, 7 p.m.

 

 

Call to order:  Barb Whitney, President, called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Whitney led in prayer.

Members present:  Barb Whitney, Dave Snook, Richie Dewell, Jamie Boese, Fred Boyd, Seth Hageman and Tom Huelskamp were present. Others present were Corri McDowell, Principal, Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Paula Kay Watson, Board Clerk.

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Visitors listed on sign-in sheets.

Approve Amended Consent Agenda: Snook moved, seconded by Dewell to approve the Consent Agenda.  Motion carried 7-0.     

Senior Class Trip: Brayden Watson, Kadyn Weber, Kenyan Weber, Maria Castillo and Diego Medina explained their class trip Itinerary to Tybee Beach, Georgia. Boese moved to approve the Senior Trip as presented to the Board. Hageman seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

Seniors left the meeting at 7:12 p.m.

Executive Session: A motion was made by Boese and seconded by Huelskamp that the board, Kennedy & McKee Auditors, administration and Board Clerk go into executive session at 7:12 p.m. to discuss Audit Report in order to protect the district’s right to confidentiality, and that the board return to open meeting at 7:27 p.m. Motion carried 7-0.                         

A motion was made by Snook and seconded by Huelskamp that the board, Kennedy & McKee Auditors, administration and Board Clerk go into executive session at 7:27 p.m. to discuss Audit Report in order to protect the district’s right to confidentiality, and that the board return to open meeting at 7:42 p.m. Motion carried 7-0. 

Audit Report: Jeremy Appel from Kennedy & McKee gave the audit report.

Pat Friess and Jeremy Appel left the meeting at 8:07 p.m.

Hageman moved to approve Debbie Wise and Cindy Lackey as teachers for 2018-2019 school year. Snook seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

REPORTS        Principal:  Mrs. McDowell gave her report.

                        Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, said she missed the last meeting

                        Special Education, Jamie Boese, representative, gave her report

                        Superintendent, Mr. Bollinger gave his report.

Executive Session:  A motion was made by Boyd and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session at 8:31 p.m. with the teachers present in order to protect the district’s right to confidentiality, and that the board return to open meeting at 8:51 p.m. Motion carried 6-1.                                                                                                         A motion was made by Hageman and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session at 8:51 p.m. with the teachers present in order to protect the district’s right to confidentiality, and that the board return to open meeting at 9:11 p.m. Motion carried 7-0.                                                                                                      A motion was made by Boyd and seconded by Hageman to go into executive session at 9:11 p.m. with the teachers present in order to protect the district’s right to confidentiality, and that the board return to open meeting at 9:31 p.m. Motion carried 7-0. 

Huelskamp moved to take a 5 minute break. Hageman Seconded. Motion carried 7-0  9:33 p.m.

            A motion was made by Hageman and seconded by Boyd to go into executive session at 9:39 p.m. to discuss non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy rights of the individual(s) to be discussed, and that the board returned to open meeting at 9:59 p.m.                                                                                                 A motion was made by Snook and seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session at 10 p.m. to discuss non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy rights of the individual(s) to be discussed, and that the board returned to open meeting at 10:10 p.m.                                                                                           A motion was made by Boyd and seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session at 10:11 p.m. to discuss non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy rights of the individual(s) to be discussed, and that the board returned to open meeting at 10:21 p.m.

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Snook, seconded by Boyd to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 7-0.  Time: 10:24 p.m.
