Regular Board Of Education Meeting

Monday, March 9, 2015         7:00 p.m.

Call to order:  Mark Bergkamp, president, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.

Members present:   Mark, Bergkamp, Richie Dewell, Erica Littlewood (arrived 8:00pm), Steve Lundeen, Duke Marrs, Tim Milford, and Marjean Strong were present.  Others present were Tom Dolenz, Superintendent/Principal; Mark Cook, Jr/Sr High School Principal; and Brenda Wenta, Clerk.

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: 

Nik Thompson, Kelly Clark, Annette Keith, and Marcus Shaw, teacher representatives, were present. 

Informal hearing:  postponed

Approve Agenda: Lundeen moved, seconded by Strong to approve the agenda with the addition of Personnel and an executive session to discuss personnel.  Motion carried 6-0.

Approve Minutes: Strong moved, Marrs seconded to approve the regular meeting minutes of February 9, 2015.  Motion carried 6-0.

Accounts Payable: Milford moved, seconded by Marrs to approve the accounts payable as presented.  Motion carried 6-0.

New business:

Erica Littlewood arrives at 8:00 pm

Handbooks:  Lundeen moved, Strong seconded to approve the handbooks as amended.  Motion carried 7-0.

Calendar change:  Lundeen moved, Marrs seconded to change the in-service on April 27 to April 17.  Motion carried 7-0.

Executive session:  Bergkamp moved, seconded by Strong to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 8:40 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.  Board Members were present.  Time:  8:25 p.m.

Executive Session:  Milford moved, Strong seconded to enter into executive session to discuss matters affecting a student(s) in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 8:50 p.m. Motion carried 7-0.  Board Members were present.  Time:  8:40 p.m.

Executive session:  Bergkamp moved, seconded by Milford to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 9:20 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.  Board Members and Mr. Dolenz were present.  Time:  8:50 p.m.

Executive session:  Bergkamp moved, seconded by Littlewood to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 9:45 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.  Board Members, Mr. Dolenz, Mr. Cook were present.  Time:  9:20 p.m.

Personnel:

            Strong moved, Littlewood seconded to approve the resignation of Kendra Austin, Math teacher, effective at the end of the school year.  Motion carried 7-0.

            Littlewood moved, seconded by Strong to offer a contract to Danny Zarzutzki to teach math in grades 7-12 for the 2015-16 school term.  Motion carried 7-0.

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Lundeen and seconded by Strong to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 7-0.  Time:  9:50 p.m.
