June 13, 2016 Board of Education meeting minutes

Regular Board Of Education Meeting

Grade School Library,  Monday, June 13, 2016, 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Call to order:  Courtney Wilson, president, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Steve Lundeen led a prayer.

 

Members present:  Mark Bergkamp, Richie Dewell, Steve Lundeen, Tim Milford, Barbara Whitney and Courtney Wilson were present.  Erica Littlewood-Rarden was absent. Others present were Tom Dolenz, Superintendent and Brenda Wenta, Clerk.

 

Recognition of Visitors/Communication:  Heather Shaw, Marcus Shaw, Debbie Wise, Leann Krier

 

Approve Agenda: Lundeen moved, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the printed agenda with the additions of Thompson resignation, Final Resolution of Noland.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Approve Minutes: Dewell moved, Whitney seconded to approve the May 9, 2016 regular meeting minutes.  Motion carried 6-0.  Lundeen moved, Bergkamp seconded to approve the special meeting minutes of May 19, 2016.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Accounts Payable: Milford moved, seconded by Whitney to approve the accounts payable as presented.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Reports: 

            A+ Network, Steve Lundeen, representative, none

            Special Education, Erica Littlewood, representative, absent.

            Economic Development, Tim Milford, representative, none

            Principal:  Mr. Dolenz read Mrs. McDowell’s report

            Superintendent/Activities Director:  Mr. Dolenz gave his report

 

New Business:

 

Meal prices:  Milford moved, seconded by Dewell to raise the breakfast and lunch prices by $.10.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Tuition for pre-K:  Tabled

 

Resignation:  Whitney moved, Milford seconded to accept the resignation of Tom Dolenz, superintendent.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Board clerk position, elementary secretary position:  Tabled

 

 

Final Resolution:  A motion was made by Dewell, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the final resolution to non-renew Danny Zarzutzki, math teacher.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Final Resolution:  A motion was made by Bergkamp, seconded by Whitney to approve the final resolution to non-renew Kelly Noland, 3rd grade teacher.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Resignation:  Dewell moved, Milford seconded to accept the resignation of Nik Thompson, music teacher.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

One on One initiative with Chrome books:  Bergkamp moved, Dewell seconded to approve purchase of Chrome Books upon approval of new superintendent.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Executive Session:  Bergkamp moved, Dewell seconded to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 8:40 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.  Board Members, Mr. Dolenz were present.  Time:  8:20

            A motion was made and seconded to extend the above executive session by 10 minutes to 8:50.  Motion carried 6-0.  Board members were present.  Time: 8:40

            A motion was made and seconded to extend the above executive session by 10 minutes to 9:00.  Board members were present.  Brenda Wenta entered for 5 minutes.  Time:  8:50

              

Personnel: 

            A motion was made by Milford, seconded by Bergkamp to offer a contract to Drew Glenn as assistant track and assistant football coach.  Motion carried 6-0.

            A motion was made by Lundeen, seconded by Whitney to offer a contract to Lydia Wang as high school math teacher.  Motion carried 6-0.

            A motion was made by Milford, seconded by Bergkamp to offer a contract to Tammy Bollinger as an elementary teacher.  Motion carried 6-0.

            A motion was made by Dewell, seconded by Whitney to offer a contract to Jeff Bollinger for 3 years as superintendent.  Motion carried 6-0.

            A motion was made by Bergkamp, seconded by Whitney to offer a contract to Leann Krier as activities director.  Motion carried 6-0

 

            Adjournment:  A motion was made by Lundeen, seconded by Milford to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 6-0.  Time:  9:20 p.m.
