USD #225 Board of Education Meeting

May 7, 2018, 7 p.m.

 

 

Call to order:  Barb Whitney, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Whitney led in prayer.

Members present:  Barb Whitney, Dave Snook, Richie Dewell, Jamie Boese, Fred Boyd, Seth Hageman and Tom Huelskamp were present. Others present were Corri McDowell, Principal, Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Erica Rarden, Deputy Board Clerk.

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Visitors listed on sign-in sheet.

Approve Consent Agenda: Snook moved, seconded by Boese to approve the Consent Agenda.  Motion carried 7-0.              

REPORTS        Principal:  Mrs. McDowell gave her report.

                        Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, gave her report

                        Special Education, Jamie Boese, representative, gave her report

                        Superintendent, Mr. Bollinger gave his report.

2018-2019 District Calendar: Snook moved, seconded by Hageman to approve the 2018-19 district calendar as presented. Motion carried 7-0

Resurface Gym Floors: Snook moved, seconded by Hageman to approve the bid presented to resurface the high school gym and dome gym floors. Motion carried 7-0

Personnel: Boese moved, seconded by Snook, to extend contracts for the 2018-2019 school year to Becky Heinz for PBL Coordinator, David Adams for high school science teacher, and Kyra Ellis for grade school office assistant; and accept the resignation of Kendra Durbin, Dale Coverdale, Sharon McDonald. Motion carried 7-0

Dewell moved, seconded by Boyd to approve the resolution to nonrenew Kamisha Howe for the 2018-2019 school year. Motion carried 7-0

Boese moved, seconded by Snook to approve the resolution to nonrenew Cecilia Hodde for the 2018-2019 school year. Motion carried 5-2.

Executive Session:  At 9:19 p.m., Huelskamp moved that the board go into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel 30 minutes. Snook seconded. The session is required to protect the privacy interest of the individuals to be discussed. Motion carried 7-0. 

At 9:49 p.m., Snook moved, seconded by Hageman that the board goes into executive session for ten minutes. Motion carried 7-0.

At 9:59 p.m., Snook moved, seconded by Boyd that the board goes into executive session for ten minutes. Motion carried 7-0

The board returned to open the meeting at 10:09 p.m.

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Snook, seconded by Boyd to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 7-0.  Time: 10:11 p.m.
