REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

Monday, June 9, 2014 7:00 p.m.
Call to order: Tim Milford called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
Members present: Mark Bergkamp, Steve Lundeen, Duke Marrs, Tim Milford, Marjean Strong and Stephanie Wells were present. Erica Littlewood was absent. Others present were Dr. Bobbi Williams, Superintendent/Principal, Mark Cook, Jr/Sr High School Principal and Brenda Wenta, Clerk.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Marian Seacat, teacher; Thomas Dolenz, Superintendent elect.
Approve Agenda: Lundeen moved, seconded by Wells to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried 6-0.
Approve Minutes: Strong moved, Marrs seconded to approve the regular meeting minutes of May 12, 2014. Motion carried 6-0.
Accounts Payable: Strong moved, seconded by Wells to approve the accounts payable as presented. Motion carried 6-0.

Board Matters:
Football equipment: It is the consensus of the board to sell old football equipment.
Football Staff restructure: Lundeen moved, Marrs seconded to approve football coach staff restructure as proposed by the Fowler Teachers’ Association. Motion carried 6-0.
Professional Development Plan: Strong moved, Wells seconded to approve the Professional Development Plan as written by Southwest Plains Regional Service Center. Motion carried 6-0.
Membership/Service renewals: Wells moved, Strong seconded to approve membership fees and renewals as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
Executive session: Motion by Strong, seconded by Wells to enter into executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed and that the board return to open session in the board room at 7:35 p.m. Motion carried 6-0. Board Members, Dr. Williams, Mr. Cook, Mr. Dolenz were present. Time: 7:25 p.m.
Personnel:
Lundeen moved, Wells seconded to accept the resignation of Micah Womacks, math teacher and coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Wells moved, Marrs seconded to hire Leann Krier as business teacher/IT support through the Transition to Teaching program. Motion carried 6-0.
Wells moved, Bergkamp seconded to increase Julie Jones salary to $10.50 per hour as high school secretary, transportation secretary. Motion carried 6-0.
Wells moved, Strong seconded to hire Kimberly Knopp as 1st grade teacher. Motion carried 6-0.
Wells moved, Strong seconded to hire Matt Bell as head football coach, Nick Dupuis as assistant football coach, Adam Sobba as assistant football coach. Motion carried 6-0.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Steve Lundeen and seconded by Stephanie Wells to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 6-0. Time: 7:40 p.m.
